What is a Spiritual Awakening?
IS IT HAPPENING FOR YOU?
A spiritual awakening can feel utterly blissful and downright confounding. And even a little maddening!
You may feel…
New life bubbling under the surface of everyday rote life.
An insatiable appetite for esoteric information.
You want to excitedly tell everyone about your new sense of Self but feel misunderstood if you do.
A longing to find others like you and ask them loads of questions.
You secretly think you just may be loosing your mind.
You want to take a big leap into something you've never done before.
The thought of jumping head-long into a new life brought on by a spiritual awakening to can feel absolutely exhilarating. But it can also feel unnerving or downright scary. The parts of life that fit perfectly before no longer feel comfortable. This can include personal habits, work environment, and relationships. This exhilarating new awareness can cause a big spinning vertigo of emotions and self-doubt.
“Where’d my posse go?”
When we choose to shift gears towards a new expression of Self brought on by a spiritual awakening, it can sometimes cause those with whom we feel closest to go the other way. Suddenly, relationships feel disjointed causing us to feel misunderstood, misaligned and alone. And sometimes, we prefer the alone time. As hurtful and confounding as a scenario like this may feel, soothing resolve is available. There is always a choice to release what no longer resonates and reach for understanding.
Humanity is a very diverse group. Whatever appeals to one may not to another. If loved ones are indeed disengaging during what One considers a significant spiritual experience, their reason is valid. It's an expression of humanity’s diversity. We can choose not to take others actions as personal offenses and react defensively, but respond to the best of our ability with kindness, respect and understanding.
On the flip-side, there is also choice to release our fears around living our truth. Fears and pain of being rejected or abandoned. We can dive deep into love and acceptance of ourselves. We can release our fears of having to compromise ourselves by playing small for the sake of "saving" a relationship. (Which a healthy, equally honoring relationship doesn't need "saving" anyway.) We can bless those who choose to no longer to participate positively in our life. We can say goodbye to resigning friends, lovers, and family and lovingly release them to go their separate way. We can give thanks for their input and gifts they have brought into our life. We can trust that other people better suited to accompany us on our path will show up to enthusiastically play, support, and share our joy. Whether they stay or go, all relationships are valuable and instrumental in the process of our Awakening. And as we honor each of them, even more opportunities for loving, joyful and fulfilling relationships will show up.
