The #1 Cause of Anxiety and 5 Ways to Reduce It

Oftentimes, my clients inquire on how they can reduce their anxiety. And while there are simple ways to reduce anxiety, unless the root cause of the anxiety is addressed, it can remain on-going.

Most often when working with my clients, I’ve found the number one cause of anxiety is a holding pattern within the client’s energy field. This holding of energy usually stems from an unconscious, conditioned belief, learned from a parent during childhood or as a response to a traumatic event. This belief system is typically implemented through a fear-based behavioral pattern used as a coping mechanism by the client. The presence of these energies, often found in the throat, the solar plexus and/or the sacral chakras, can create disturbance within the client’s energy field. If this disturbance is not addressed over time, it can manifest as a relative dis-ease within the physical body.

I help clients to uncover the root cause of their anxiety so that they can go from feeling disempowered in life to thriving in life. If they are open and willing to acknowledge the cause, we're able to release the energy of the belief system lodged in the client’s field. Most report that this release, although emotional, feels soothing to them, as if a weight has been lifted. In turn, new energies are integrated where the old energies were being held. The client can then execute new habits of behavior that support the vagus nerve and the overall nervous system. Thus creating a consistently healthy, harmonious flow of energy throughout their field, lowering their anxiety level and improving their sense of clarity and confidence.

5 Simple habits to Reduce Anxiety

  • Be mindful of media. Pay attention to how you feel when you are watching or reading or listening to something. Playing video games can cause a great deal of anxiety too. If you feel anxious afterwards, it's a good indication that you would probably be better off finding a different activity. Here are some ideas.

  • Limit sugar and caffeine. This is probably one of the simplest remedies but can be a difficult one to implement if you are daily sugar or caffeine consumer. Reducing sugar and caffeine lowers the overall toxic load in the body, aids in physiological responses to stress, and also supports the immune system.

  • Avoid toxic interactions. If you feel anxious or drained after you've hung out with someone, you may want to consider establishing healthy boundaries with them.

  • Carry grounding stones. Black tourmaline and obsidian are very good for grounding energies. Carry them with you or have them near you during the times you feel stressed. Furthermore, consider adding some crystals to the Feng Shui bagua map of your home.

  • Spend time in nature. I cannot emphasize this one enough! The dominant 172 hertz frequency in nature has a calming effect that naturally promotes an overall sense of well-being. You may also try earthing - allow the harmonizing frequencies of Earth to permeate into your energy field to help you decompress your stress.

Here’s a bonus tip…

  • Smile often, without reason. Make it a practice to have a slight smile on your face regardless of what you’re doing: reading, meditating, typing/texting, walking, or conversing with someone. Smiling naturally lifts your vibe by transmitting a positive impulse to the mental body. Once you start smiling, you’ll soon see the world smiling back at you.

Most importantly, know that you are not alone. I invite you to read how I went from being depressed, suicidal and burnt-out to feeling authentically joyful, living an empowered life. I truly, whole-heartedly believe that if I can do it, so can you.
